Bernard-Albin Gras

Bernard-Albin Gras
Bernard-Albin Gras was a French designer, born in the city of Saint Raphael (France) in 1886. He’s know worldwide as one of the first designers of the 20th Century and as the creator of a full range of lights for the industry.Inspired by the metalurgical revolution, Albin Gras was the first to use molten metal, adding original and functional aesthetics to his pieces. Seduced by his modern and practical designs, the artist Le Corbusier adopted his collection of lamps and integrated them into numerous projects throughout the world. It was the first time in lighting history that these types of products be used in homes and factories. And so, Gras’ designs became a legend, an icon in the industrial style. If the 20th Century is known for something, it’s innovation. This was the time to experiment, to break the old rules. Say hello to revolutionary art. New artistic tendencies began to appear that, using the same materials as always, could achieve designs that had never been conceived of. Functionality, aesthetics and quality were all up to date, and all of this can be seen in Gras’ designs.
