A raised platform base with a vaguely Chinese feel, an elegantly finished, modular nomad made even more exquisite thanks to the cushions embroidered with the abstract floral patterns of Uzbeki Suzani which have been symbolically juxtaposed with the computerized aliens of Space Invaders games. The wooden frame blends in perfect harmony with the simple shapes of the cushions. Inspired by grand Eastern salons, Fergana, named after a central-Asian valley which has for centuries been a place where East meets West, breaks down the barriers between different languages to find the perfect balance of movement and stillness, of past and present, craftsmanship and technology.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain, and currently lives and works in Milan. She studied at the faculty of Architecture at the Madrid Politecnico and at Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated in 1989.
